Late last night before Leia and I left the hospital, Lang was wide awake and full of questions. His handwriting has gotten a little better so we were actually able to understand most of what he said or asked…He had a lot of questions. His first question was “What are you doing for work?” Leave it to Lang to worry about others even in his condition. Leia went on to explain that she was on extended paid leave and not to worry. I stayed quiet, hoping he would forget to ask me. He then turned and pointed to me. I smiled and looked away. I told him that as of yesterday, I was officially unemployed (because we aren’t married, I could not qualify for extended paid leave). His eyes got really big, almost like “What?!?” I told him that he was supporting me now (with a sly smile) and his eyes got even bigger. I laughed and told him that we had everything under control and that he was my new job now. I told him that I wanted a raise. He smirked and shrugged his shoulders. Then he asked what we were paying for. I asked him if he was worried about our budget and he nodded yes. Of course he is. Lang wouldn’t be Lang without a plan and a budget. That’s one of the reasons I love him. Again, I told him that we had everything under control and not to worry about it. He then asked what the doctors say about how he is doing. So I explained all his injuries to him and the plan for recovery. He put his hands together as if he was praying and shook them back and forth. I asked him if he was saying “Thank God”? And he nodded yes. Dr. O came in the room and I introduced Lang to him for the first time. Lang shook his hand and mouthed “thank you”. He also did the hands together thing again to say thank you as well. Dr. O was almost mesmerized by how much Lang has recovered so far. (Usually, the patients are out of the ICU by now and the nurses and doctors don’t get to see this part.) So it’s kind of nice for them to see Lang now. We talked to Dr. O about our wishes to send Lang to Seattle for recovery and to be near his family. He agreed with us 100%. We love Dr. O!
It is raining this morning in Las Vegas. Leia and I actually slept in (7:15am) due to the hypnotic sound of the rain. Just like home.

Please let him know that I wish him a speedy recovery. May Thanksgiving this year be one to forever be remembered.

Your strength is amazing. I’m sure your strength, love and support has a strong impact on Lang’s recovery. Thank you for sharing your stories. They are wonderfully written. It sounds like you have a terrific support group. I will keep you and Lang in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you are able to come home soon. I’m glad your son will be joining you for Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Brooke

Carla and Kermit,
So glad to hear things are going well…or at least better. I just wanted to let you know that you are still in our thoughts and prayers. Tisha and I discuss you often. In fact we talk about you too much, so hurry up and get better. The sooner you’re better and out of that hospital and eating like a man instead of through a sissy feeding tube in your stomach, the quicker I can have a conversation about “Poor little Kermit”. If you wanted Tisha’s attention, you could’ve just called and talked to her. You didn’t have to fall off a cliff. The things some people will do for attention. j/k
With all sincerity, we wish you guys a happy Thanksgiving. I know all of us that consider Kermit a friend have a lot to be Thankful for. Love you, brother and can’t wait to finally read about you up and walking on your own. I’m not supposed to say this, but Carla told me she’s wishing the same thing; she’s tired of babying you. I told her I think you’re milking it.
Take care, my friend.
