Chocolate Peanut Butter Milkshake 12/27/08

I found the secret to getting Lang to eat and swallow.  A chocolate peanut butter milkshake from Coldstone.  Oh my Lord…I had never seen his eyes light up like that before nor have I seen him swallow so quickly and with such intent.  It was hilarious.  It brought laughter to his mom, which I think she needed dearly.  After the first couple slurps of the milkshake, he quickly gave me a thumbs up for another few slurps.  I told him that as long as he kept up the good work, I would bring him a milkshake everyday.

My man also got a well deserved foot and hand massage yesterday.  Well, the truth…I was tired of looking at his neglected feet so I took it upon myself to bring in the big guns…Burts Bees Foot Lotion.  Mmmm…it smells yummy too…peppermint.  After I was done, his entire room smelt like peppermint.  It was fantastic.  As for Lang, I don’t think I have ever seen him so relaxed or in such ectasy.  It was wonderful.  I told him that along with the daily milkshake, he could have daily massages as well if he kept working hard.   I don’t mind spoiling him…he has been through alot.

For the most part, yesterday was a great day.  He walked twice…well, the second time was almost a sprint…he couldn’t get back to his bed fast enough.  I think Rick said 75 feet in 60 seconds.  There were no tremors, no fever, not a lot of coughing.  He spoke a little bit.  We enjoyed just hanging out with him.  Still no word on if lung surgery is in Lang’s future or when the transfer is happening.  We will probably be in Vegas for a couple more weeks.

Please pray that the doctors will be able to break up the clot in Lang’s lung and drain it completely so surgery is not necessary and…that we can find a ground transport unit to transfer us to Palo Alto as soon as the chest tubes come out.  Thank you.

Grace & Peace ~ Carla

  1. Holy cows! This is awesome!!! I was laughing pretty hard at the foot lotion…today peppermint and will tomorrow hold a lavender scent? :)
I miss you dearly, sweet woman! We are praying for you and Lang, and for the precious moments you have to learn more about each other daily.

  2. I’m very excited to hear the enthusiasm in which he slurped down that shake. Lang has long been a skinny guy and I can’t imagine him being even skinnier. He’s a lucky man to be able to have you there. You love him so much. AND you give him delicious deserts and massages. ;)

We think about you and pray for you often.
